Frugality,Classcism & Disability

Here is a picture of some of places/things and what I consider to be a cheaper alternative. You may laugh, but I am happy with the alternatives because I may be able to go half or buy it independently.

Being disabled has helped me learn about classicism. Classicism is basically the unfair treatment of people based on how much money they have. Now there are a lot of disabled people out there that are high up in their professional fields but a lot of us are unable to work. I really wish there were jobs for those with severe chronic illness and other very debilitating conditions. ADA accommodations don't cut it for everyone. There is basically a line where it cuts off and you’re "too disabled". So anyways being past that line even though I so sorely want to work I cannot and that leaves me personally perpetually broke. I freelance for money but it's not enough to support myself on. So I end up saving my money like there's no tomorrow and spending it very wisely.

That’s where being frugal and learning about classism comes in. We often believe that anything that is cheap is bad without even trying it. I've seen someone judge another person harshly for wearing a knock off brand; I’ve seen another person judge another harshly because they bought clothes from a drugstore. Clothes are clothes, shoes are shoes.... Get over it! If it doesn’t immediately breakdown on them then I say strut!   It is true that something that’s cheaper may not work as well but I have had so many times where it’s just fine. I believe it’s better to have the next best thing instead of nothing and that people shouldn't be judged so harshly for buying a knock off, for one reason or another they might not be able to afford name brand and some people just like saving money! I believe that quality should always go over the brand I don’t believe in buying something for the name anymore.

I say if you’re a dollar store diva then have no shame! Once I truly took a look in dollar stores like the 99cents store and dollar tree I realized what huge selection they have, it was basically a Wal-Mart for $1. Here and there they had products I disliked but all I had to lose was $1 most of them were great especially for the price. I always tell my friends - just think of it. Why would the Dollar tree & 99cents store be in business for so long if every single product was a complete bust?  I love being frugal because it allows me to be able to buy things according to my budget.
