It's not shameful - Life with Chronic illnesses/disabilities.

“Frailness”
“Weak”
“Helpless”

And other terms that are associated with being disabled.  You usually see things to combat these words, like ways to spin it around in disability communities but hear me out.  Why are we ashamed of these words? Sure they are pretty unpleasant experiences but they shouldn’t be seen as shameful or like you less for it.  For instance my disabilities can make me physically weak and I have an overall lowered stamina because of them. They do make me incredibly strong mentally and I do have a high pain tolerance because of having to be so strong. But they do make me physically frail, weak and often times helpless, that’s nothing to be ashamed of. I’m no less human than the person who can run a 5K and still be able to function after wards, I’m no less human than the person who’s self-sufficient and doesn’t ask anyone for help.  Illness is not something we can control, it is not a personality fault or a lack of will power, and we do not choose this it’s just thrown on us.

Frailness & Helplessness does not equate to being pathetic.

Needing help often & needing to depend on other people, services, assistive technology, and medications does not equate to being pathetic.

Inability or struggling to do things abled people would consider a basic activity or an activity they wouldn’t even think twice about does not equate to being pathetic.

You are not pathetic, You are not broken, You are not less, You have nothing to be ashamed of.
