6 beauty short cuts for chronically ill femmeO

Oops it's actually 7!! |
I’ve gathered different techniques and items from around the internet that different spoonies use to help them take care of themselves in their bad days/moments or in daily life. Some I’ve tried others I haven’t but still think they’d be useful. A lot of these are beauty routine type things for my femme chronic illness warriors!
#1 Press-on Makeup / strobing
I’ve seen a bunch of press on eye shadows, DIY eyeliner
stamps and eyebrow stamps and like products. I’ve never used these; I usually
just skip steps on my makeup if I’m not feeling well to do my normal routine.
But this sound really amazing and handy for conserving energy and I definitely want
to try them especially since putting on eye-shadow aggravates my vertigo.
Another awesome shortcut is strobing, it’s great because a
lot of spoonies just don’t have the energy to contour, set and all those things
but it gives you a similar effect. I usually like to cut the strobing thing in
half.
#2 Make-up Wipes
I remember reading this on another chronic illness website
which I sadly don’t remember the name of… But the author was saying she likes
to keep makeup wipes by her bedside when she’s not well enough to do her normal
beauty routine , I’ve been keeping wipes with me ever since! & frugal side
note, Dollar tree & 99 cents store sell good makeup wipes if you can’t
afford higher end brands.
#3 Mouthwash
Again I don’t remember where I saw this but the author had
hand arthritis and had trouble brushing her teeth from time to time and used
mouth wash to keep up on her dental hygiene, I figure this could help people
who have heavy fatigue as well and have days where they don’t have the energy
to brush their teeth and want to avoid tooth decay and bad breath.
#4 Rubbing alcohol
I have two types of chronic pain one is from an injury on my
right arm and there’s just a spot where I can’t scrub clean because of pain,
what I do is take some rubbing alcohol and brush past that part to keep it
clean. This can also help with getting behind your ears if you forget to do
that a lot but your head is too sensitive to scrub.
# 5 Wigs or No-heat curls
I think I’ve wrote about this a little bit but I thought
it’d fit right in to this post! I’ve never used a wig but I definitely think it
would be a great option if you don’t have the energy to do your hair.
I have used no heat curls though and I loooove them! I just
don’t have the energy(or talent) to do my hair for 2 hours…Curlers, braids,
twists, and so on take less than 10 minutes and leave you with bombshell hair
when you wake up. Just spray it with oil to bring back the moisture and some
hair spray to hold and your good to go.
# 6 Straightening hair.
I do this all the time since my hair is almost always long
and I usually don’t have the energy to take my hair in sections. I take my hair
up into a snug ponytail (not too tight you don’t want a migraine lol) and just straighten
the hair in the pony tail and then take it out of the pony-tail and style the
front of my hair. It always looks great
and it saves oh-so much energy.
# 7 Spray on lotion & pants/long socks
I think I wrote a little bit about this but again it just
goes so well in here. If you don’t have
the energy to work in lotion or it’s painful to bend (or both lol) then
consider spray on lotion. You can DIY your own with a dollar tree/99cents store
spray bottle & baby oil or you can buy some at the store. Some brands make
them and there’s also the option of spray on sunscreen which has moisturizing
oils inside, and there’s also Olive oil that’s meant for hair sheen but works
wonders for keeping skin moisturized! Although the smell of olive oil triggers my
migraine osmophobia so watch out for that.
Another thing that’s helpful is wearing tights, long socks,
or pants when you don’t have the energy to moisturize your legs and don’t have
any spray on lotion.
Hope you found these tips helpful!
